2017 Family Volunteer Day - Sweet Potato Drop

November 18, 2017

About this event

In celebration of Family Volunteer Day, the Maroon Volunteer Center at Mississippi State University is partnering with the Society of St. Andrew and Volunteer Starkville to host a Sweet Potato Drop that will benefit food pantries in Oktibbeha, Clay and Winston counties. During this event, 20,000 pounds of sweet potatoes donated from farmers will be dropped in the Commuter West parking lot next to the greenhouses near Dorman Hall on the Starkville campus. Approximately 100 volunteers are needed to help bag the sweet potatoes, so they are ready for food pantry representatives to pick up at the site. This is a fun service project for all ages, especially children who participate with their parents/guardians. Join us in helping those in our community who might not have enough to eat!
