About this event
After inspiring the Starkville and softball community in her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Alex Wilcox will be honored by Mississippi State University with a jersey retirement and on-campus memorial service. Dubbed the "Snowman" by her teammates and family, Wilcox will be honored on Sept. 15 in a special halftime ceremony during Mississippi State football's contest versus University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Wilcox, who passed away June 25 at the age of 18 in her hometown of Brantley, Alabama, will become the first female student-athlete in Mississippi State history to have her jersey retired. On Sept. 16, MSU will honor Wilcox's legacy with a 10 a.m. public memorial service at the historic Chapel of Memories. Officiated by M-Club Director Tyson Lee, the memorial service will feature video tributes and members of MSU softball will speak about Wilcox's impact both on and off the field.
