Women Thriving in Science: A Discussion Forum

October 8, 2018
12:30 pm to 3:00 pm

About this event

An interdisciplinary team from Mississippi State University's College of Forest Resources and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is conducting a discussion panel featuring successful women leaders in academia and industry as part of an initiative to increase the number of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. There is abundant research that indicates recruitment and retention of women and minority in STEM careers is a challenge. This is the first event in a planned series of opportunities to support professional achievement and retention of women and minority faculty working in STEM fields. Panelists will discuss their challenges and successes as a female faculty member, scientist and/or leader in STEM-related disciplines. There also will be roundtable discussions where participants can further delve into commonly faced issues and potential solutions to recruitment and retention barriers. A short synthesis of key discussion outcomes will close out the event, which is funded by the Office of Research and Economic Development's Cross-College Research Grant program. Light lunch will be served. Click the link below to register for free.
