About this event
Mississippi State's Maroon Volunteer Center is encouraging members of the campus and local communities to participate in a fun service project. MVC is partnering with the Society of St. Andrew and Volunteer Starkville to host a Sweet Potato Drop benefiting local food pantries in honor of Family Volunteer Day. For this event, 20,000 pounds of sweet potatoes donated from farmers will be dropped in the Commuter West parking lot next to the greenhouses near the intersection of Stone and Bully boulevards on the Starkville campus. About 100 volunteers are needed to help bag the sweet potatoes and get them ready for food pantry representatives to pick up at the site. Individuals of all ages are welcome, including children and their parents.
