Blockchain Technology and Supply Chains of the Future

November 27, 2018

About this event

On Sept. 24, 2018, Walmart announced leafy greens suppliers will be asked to implement real-time, farm-to-store tracking using blockchain technology in one year. Blockchain is a shared record of data kept by a network of computers to track supply chain and improve food safety. Mississippi State's Department of Agricultural Economics is sponsoring a presentation and panel discussion that will explore the implications for agricultural supply chains and provide insight on ways to address these issues in a university setting. The featured speaker is Mark Pryor, chairman and CEO of The Seam, the company that has created the technology for the first-to-market blockchain trading for the cotton industry.
