About this event
You have never experienced anything like this. Using vintage overhead projectors, multiple screens, shadow puppets, live video cameras, multichannel sound, and live actors and musicians, the Chicago-based performance collective Manual Cinema creates a haunting, mesmerizing performance – in full view of the audience. It's like being in the middle of a movie being created on the fly, in real time. "Lula Del Ray" tells the story of a lonely girl who becomes obsessed with a soulful country music duo she hears on the radio. She runs away from home and into a world of deception and danger. Performed with almost no dialogue, it's achingly expressive, visually astonishing and deeply touching.
