Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, the hard-rocking team that created some of the biggest hits of the 1980s, will perform on July 17 at the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $64 and $58.
Benatar won four consecutive Grammy Awards and three American Music Awards for such rock anthems as “Promises in the Dark,” “Hell Is for Children,” “We Live for Love,” “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “We Belong” and her first Top 40 single, “Heartbreaker.” Giraldo, her husband, has been her partner every step of the way as producer, songwriter and lead guitarist.
They continue to tour every year, playing all of their signature songs along with new material. Benatar told Billboard magazine that Giraldo continually updates the arrangements for their classics.
“I love it,” she said, “because it keeps things fresh for us as well as the audience.”
Among all of their hits, “‘Heartbreaker’ will always be number one for me,” Benatar said, “because it was the song that conveyed the idea, musically and thematically, that Neil and I were going for.”
You can buy tickets at the MSU Riley Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also purchase tickets by phone at the box office number, (601) 696-2200, or online at www.msurileycenter.com.
