Astronaut Jerry Ross to speak, present MSU's first Astronaut Scholarship Wednesday

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation is recognizing Mississippi State University's first Astronaut Scholarship recipient Phong C. Ly of Brandon with a special presentation Wednesday [Sept. 19] from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Mitchell Memorial Library's third-floor John Grisham Room.

In addition to presenting Ly with the $10,000 merit-based award, Astronaut Jerry Ross will speak about his experience with seven space shuttle missions. MSU alumnus Ray Gildea also will be in attendance.

Sophomores and juniors interested in applying for the Astronaut Scholarship, as well as faculty interested in mentoring students who pursue research and internships, are encouraged to attend.

A reception follows the presentation.
