ITS to facilitate campus network improvements Sept. 21 and 26

On Friday [Sept. 21], beginning at 10 p.m., Information Technology Services  will upgrade campus border routers to new equipment for the MSU campus data network.  This upgrade process is expected to take approximately six hours, and during this upgrade, Internet and Internet2 access will be unavailable for significant periods of time.  During this disruption in service, wired and wireless users on the MSU data network will be unable to reach the Internet, and users out on the Internet will be unable to reach MSU network resources and services.  

On Wednesday [Sept. 26], beginning at 12:01 a.m., ITS will upgrade MSU's connection to the Mississippi Optical Network (MissiON) from 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps.  This maintenance event is expected to take approximately four hours and no Internet or Internet2 disruptions are expected.
