Mississippi State chemistry doctoral student James D. Cope of Starkville filters the product of a reaction in the university's Hand Chemical Lab. Cope is collaborating with Professor Edwin Webster and Associate Professor Keith Hollis of MSU's Department of Chemistry. Cope's research is part of a $6 million, four-year National Science Foundation-funded project being conducted by a team of researchers from Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Researchers say the project could yield results relating to the reduction of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide, considered a major issue due to its impact on climate change.
