About this event

Bring the family out to the Crosby Arboretum for this two-day event focusing entirely on insects! On Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., local schools and homeschool groups are invited to explore the world of entomology through insect-collecting and identification activities. Student admission is $2, and there is no charge for teachers and chaperones until 6 p.m. Groups must call to schedule an arrival time. On Friday from 6-8 p.m., children will enjoy entomology-based activities on the Buggy Midway, and night collecting will begin at dusk. Bring flashlights or a headlamp! The midway is open Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. The New Orleans Audubon Institute’s Bugmobile will visit in the afternoon. The Friday evening and Saturday entry fees are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Crosby Arboretum members attend free. Additional Information
With increasing value being placed on our natural heritage, the Crosby Arboretum in Picayune is the premier native plant conservatory in the Southeast. The arboretum was established as a living memorial to L.O. Crosby Jr. (1907-78) and has expanded to become a resource for education in the region and the world. Today, it provides for the protection of the region's biological diversity and serves as a place for the public's enjoyment of plant species native to the Pearl River Drainage Basin of south-central Mississippi and Louisiana.
