Join Mississippi State's Department of Sociology in welcoming Amanda E. Lewis as the next guest in the Race in America Interdisciplinary Lecture Series. An associate professor of African American Studies and sociology, Lewis also serves as director of the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. The topic of her presentation is "Despite the Best Intentions: How Racial Inequality Thrives in Good Schools." In addition to the sociology department, the Race in America lecture series is made possible with support from the Marion T. Loftin Fund, as well as the MSU Critical Race Studies Group, College of Arts and Sciences and its Department of History.
