Three Minute Thesis Competition for Graduate Students

Mississippi State's Graduate School and Office of Research and Economic Development are sponsoring the university's fourth annual Three Minute Thesis competition, which challenges graduate students to present a compelling verbal presentation of their thesis or dissertation topic and its significance in just three minutes to a public audience. The competition will be held over a two-day period, Nov. 14-15, in the Fowlkes Auditorium of MSU’s Colvard Student Union. The preliminary rounds will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, with sessions from 9 a.m. until noon and 1-4 p.m.  Participants may choose the time and may leave after completing their presentation. The final round of the competition will be held on Nov. 15 from 1-3:30 p.m., when the eight finalists will compete to be the university’s grand champion. Presentations will be judged by a panel of academic and non-academic professionals with a wide range of expertise. Winners will receive the following cash prizesGrand Champion: $1,000; Grand Champion Runner-Up: $750; People's Choice Award: $500; each of the eight category winners: $250. Online registration is open and the deadline to apply is noon on Nov. 4.
