Rita Dove, former United States Poet Laureate and Commonwealth Professor of English at the University of Virginia, will give a public reading of her work as the Mississippi State College of Arts and Sciences' Institute for the Humanities 2017 Writer in Residence. Along with the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, Dove has received the National Humanities Medal and the National Medal of Arts, among other honors. A book signing will follow the reading.
