• Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award nominations due March 31
    Staff Council needs your help nominating outstanding Mississippi State University employees for the Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award. Twelve winners will be presented with a plaque of recognition and a check for $1,000. Awards will be announced at the annual Luncheon in the Junction on May 12 at noon. The nomination deadline is March 31.

  • April reception to recognize PCSW award winners
    The President's Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) at Mississippi State University has announced the winners for the annual Student Leadership Awards and PCSW Awards. There will be a reception on April 4 from 2-4 p.m. to honor all of the nominees and recognize the winners for each category. The reception will be held in the Griffis Hall Honors Forum Room on the top floor of the building.

  • Register today for MSU's Big Event on April 1
    The Mississippi State University BIG EVENT presented by Renasant Bank is a one-day service opportunity for members of Starkville and MSU to roll up their sleeves and give back. On April 1, the Student Association and Maroon Volunteer Center will gather Starkville and MSU volunteers to leave their mark on the local community through volunteer service. Last year of 900 students, faculty, and staff participated in the Big Event.

  • 'Overcoming Negativity in the Workplace' focus of March 29 PRO Chat
    Join Human Resources Management at Mississippi State for its next PRO Chat on March 29 from 2-3 p.m. in Colvard Student Union's Fowlkes Auditorium. Allison Pearson, associate vice president for academic affairs and Giles Distinguished Professor of Management, will lead the session on "Overcoming Negativity in the Workplace." Space is limited.   • MWRRI director finalists' public presentations now available
    Mississippi State University will host three finalists for director of the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute over the next several weeks. During their visits, each candidate will deliver a public presentation where they will share their vision for the institute, as well as discuss their leadership style, professional background and priorities, among other topics. Interested members of the campus community are invited to attend these sessions. Videos of each public presentation are now available online.

  • April 1st deadline for Gender Studies student paper competition
    Undergraduate and graduate students at Mississippi State are invited to participate in the Gender Studies program's 2017 student paper competition. Two students will be selected as winners, and they will each receive $250. The submission deadline is April 1.

  • BCH 4990-Healthcare and Servant Leadership offered during Maymester
    Mississippi State students are invited to enroll in BCH 4990-Healthcare and Servant Leadership during Maymester [May 8-30]. The studio-based course will incorporate healthcare and servant leadership with an emphasis on physician-patient interaction. Students will obtain clinical exposure and shadowing hours, visit healthcare facilities and universities, gain references for recommendations, and meet guest lecturers with clinical experience from different healthcare fields to offer a variety of perspectives. This course is only open to sophomores, juniors and seniors.

  • PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Education workshop coming up in April
    The Learning Center at Mississippi State will offer a PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Education preparation workshop on April 22 in 246 Allen Hall, Lab A from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch. This workshop provides an introduction to the Core Academic Skills for Educators exam; a comprehensive review of reading, writing, and mathematics; a review of test taking strategies; and a structure plan for continued study. No academic credit is associated with this workshop. MSU enrollment not required.

  • Food resources available for campus community members in need
    The MSU Food Security Network has partnered with the Student Association's Block by Block Meal Program to connect members of the Mississippi State community who lack food to available food resources on campus and in the community. The MSU Food Security Network connects students, faculty and staff to a local food pantry, and Block by Block provides block meals specifically for students in need.

  • Information Technology Services planning major Banner upgrade
    Beginning in April, Information Technology Services at Mississippi State will begin the process of upgrading Banner 8 to Banner 9, also referred to as Banner XE. This is a major upgrade that will take over a year to complete. Campus users are asked to visit for details about the upgrade, including a timeline, a video, FAQs, and other important information. Additional information will be made available as the upgrade progresses.
