STARKVILLE, Miss.--A March 18 event will explain the "moral case for fossil fuels" as part of the Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series.
Alex Epstein, author of "The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels" and "Fossil Fuels Improve the Planet," will speak at a 3 p.m. free public lecture in the Colvard Student Union Foster Ballroom. A question-and-answer period and book signing will follow his presentation.
Evoking strong reactions from both sides of the fossil fuel-debate, Epstein's work argues that these products are "the life-giving energy of the future" that should be "celebrated and not demonized." In addition to his two books, his work has been published in The Wall Street Journal and Forbes magazine.
An alumnus of Duke University, Epstein studied philosophy and computer science. He is president and founder of the Center for Industrial Progress, a think-tank that supports the idea that human industry is something that will improve the planet, rather than something from which the environment must be saved.
