STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State football fans of all ages are welcome to Davis Wade Stadium Thursday [Sept. 1] for the sixth annual Cowbell Yell pep rally.

Cowbell Yell, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 9 p.m. The annual event is sponsored by the MSU Student Association and Athletic Department. The 2016 Cowbell Yell features former MSU football players John Bond and Cameron Lawrence, the Famous Maroon Band, MSU football coaches and MSU spirit groups, among others. Fans are encouraged to bring their cowbells.

“Cowbell Yell is one of the most exciting events the Student Association puts on every year,” MSU SA President Roxie Raven said. “For many freshmen and transfer students, it’s the first time they get to hear the sound of cowbells in the stadium. Giving them that experience in a fun atmosphere is a great honor.”

The first 1,000 students in attendance will receive free t-shirts. Davis Wade Stadium will open at 8 p.m., with the event set to begin an hour later. MSU will debut the team intro video and provide a history lesson on the tradition of the cowbell. In 2015, MSU broke the Guinness World Record for most fans ringing cowbells simultaneously during Cowbell Yell.

Fans can purchase Maroon Memories experiences for Cowbell Yell, such as early entry passes and photos with featured speakers. For more information, visit hailstate.com/memories.
