STARKVILLE, Miss.—Some 60 Mississippi State University Alumni Association chapters and clubs are sponsoring summer send-off parties for first-time students, their parents and prospective students.

Most of the events are taking place July 14–Aug. 12. Parties are scheduled for areas across Mississippi, along with additional events in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C.

Now in its 13th consecutive year, the welcoming program helps incoming freshmen and transfer students around the nation continue their preparation for campus life at Mississippi State. It also provides alumni and friends the opportunity to offer additional support and well-wishes.

“We are always excited to welcome new members of the Bulldog family,” said Jeff Davis, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. “These celebrations provide excellent opportunities for alumni and friends to give advice and share their love for our university while encouraging enthusiasm and school spirit in incoming Bulldog freshmen, transfer students and prospective students.”

For a schedule of the 2018 send-off parties and their locations, visit the Alumni Association website at www.alumni.msstate.edu/sendoff. For more detailed information, contact Janet Downey, coordinator of alumni chapter and volunteer programs, at 662-325-8515 or jdowney@alumni.msstate.edu.

Move-in day on the Starkville campus is Saturday, Aug. 18. Fall classes begin on Wednesday, Aug. 22, on both the Starkville and Meridian campuses.
