Sundar Krishnan, associate professor of mechanical engineering, takes a pie to the face thrown by Alta Knizley. A mechanical engineering instructor, Knizley also was subjected to the pie throwing, which was part of a canned food drive sponsored by the MSU student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In late February, students, faculty and staff donated nonperishable food items to vote for faculty members to participate in the event. The three faculty members with the most items donated in their name presented their faces for the pie throwing event on the Drill Field March 2. The ASME students decided to donate the 800 food items collected to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville. Additional money from the pie throwing event supports the ASME student activities and competitions.
