Amit Talukder, a graduate research assistant in the MSU School of Human Sciences’ Fashion Design program, works on a prototype life vest’s solar panels. Researchers are equipping these invaluable flotation devices with new tools, including Bluetooth trackers allowing searchers to locate those who fall overboard.
