K9 Bash was welcomed and celebrated this weekend as the newest member of the MSU Police Department. Trained in Arkansas for his work with his handler, MSUPD Officer Bradley Frost, left, Bash was sworn in by Assistant Police Chief Brian Locke, as the newest squad member after the retirement of Bach, who gave nine years of service. The almost-2-year-old German Shepherd is an explosive detection/patrol-trained canine born in Slovakia in Central Europe.

FUN FACT: While MSUPD has used specially trained dogs for more than 10 years, their history as aides to law enforcement date back to the early 14th century.
