Jeff Lieberman, host of Discovery Channel's Time Warp, is a musician wrapped in a roboticist sculptor wrapped in a photographer. His focus is on the intersection between art and engineering. Using the latest in high-speed photography, the Time Warp team takes some natural events (a cat licking its paw, a full-on sneeze) - and some not-so-natural (Tesla coils and high-speed roller coasters) - and turns them into a thing of both beauty and learning. While at the MIT Media Lab, in the Robotic Life Group, he headed design on the Cyberflora, a robotic flower garden that senses and responds to people in a lifelike manner, and the Motor Learning Robotic Wearable Suit, a robotic suit that teaches motor skills (dance, sports, rehab, etc). Jeff also produces kinetic art sculptures, including Absolute Quartet, a music-making machine that incorporates the audience into the performance. Please join us for an event where art meets engineering and takes you beyond your imagination.
The event is open to the public with free admission and made possible by the Robert M. Hearin Foundation as part of the Bagley College of Engineering's distinguished lecture series. We hope you are able to attend!
