University Relations News Bureau (662) 325-3442 Contact: Karie Patton September 27, 2000

For organizations or individuals seeking Occupational Safety and Health Administration-based training in hazardous waste operations and emergency responses, Mississippi State is offering a series of special October classes.

The university's Division of Continuing Education has scheduled an eight-, 24- and 40-hour training course, as well as an eight-hour refresher course. The eight-hour course takes place Oct 16; the 24-hour course, Oct. 16-18; and the 40-hour, 16th-20th. The refresher training will be given on the 25th.

Oct. 5 is registration deadline for all sessions, which will be held at Memorial Hall on campus.

Through practice exercises and applications, the training will emphasize individual performance-based effort. Among other skills, participants will learn how to establish proper site security, employ various decontamination techniques and develop basic risk assessments.

For additional information on the workshop's instructional content or enrollment costs, telephone Amy Vickery at (662) 325-0705 or Ben Rosenkrans at 325-2650.
