University Relations News Bureau (662) 325-3442 February 19, 1997

The 1997 Black History Knowledge Bowl will be held Monday [Feb. 24] at Mississippi State University.

The competition begins at 6 p.m. in the Hilbun Hall auditorium.

In addition to offering a challenge to participants, the event seeks to promote a greater appreciation of African-American culture and history. Sponsors include the Black Student Council and campus chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, as well as the Mississippi State IMAGE [Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education] program.

Each team entered must have five members, with only one team per organization permitted. A $5 entry fee will be required of each team and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

For additional information, telephone Marc Nichols at (601) 325-4155 or O.J. Morris at 338-9485.
