A Mississippi State University graduate student is receiving a 2002 Space and Missile Defense fellowship from the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association.

Janna B. Dufrene of Roxie, an electrical engineering major, has been awarded the $2,000 fellowship to support her pursuit of a master's degree in electrical engineering. The focus of her study is microelectronics, with a special interest in the design of silicon carbide devices.

Dufrene received her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at MSU in 2000. She will complete her graduate-level coursework in December 2002, with plans to pursue a career in high power and high frequency silicon carbide devices.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Bonds and a 1996 graduate of Franklin County High School.

NDIA promotes the interchange of ideas and technology between government and the private sector for national defense solutions. The Arlington, Va.-based organization has 900 corporate and 26,000 individual members. The Tennessee Valley Chapter includes Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama.
