MSU offers support for students in late-night preparation for finals

University Relations News Bureau (662) 325-3442 Contact: Maridith Geuder December 06, 2002

Two Mississippi State administrative units are helping students burning the midnight oil have an easier time dealing with fall semester examinations.

The university's dining services department and Division of Student Affairs have arranged for the State Fountain to reopen at 9 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday, Dec. 8-11. Free coffee and doughnuts will be available until 3 a.m. the following morning for enrolled students.

A central campus coffee and bakery shop, the State Fountain is located in the Mini-Mall below the north end of Perry Cafeteria. The facility, which normally is closed all day Saturday and Sunday, will maintain regular product sale prices during the traditional weekday operating hours of 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

"This late-night service is the university's way of helping our students deal with the demands of the end-of-semester crush," said Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Jimmy W. Abraham. "We wish all of them well on the final tests."

Also to assist students, Mitchell Memorial Library will be open 24 hours a day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Following the conclusion of exams at 6 p.m. Thursday, graduating students will gather in Humphrey Coliseum at 10 a.m. Friday for the commencement program. More than 1,400 students are candidates for degrees.
