MSU's TV Center, WMSV capture top awards for broadcast excellence

Mississippi State's University Television Center and campus radio station WMSV captured seven gold awards and two silvers for broadcast excellence during the annual convention of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.

The TV center won four golds and two silvers during the 2003 MAB Excellence in Broadcasting awards competition in Biloxi June 28, while WMSV took three golds for radio programming.

The TV center received first-place gold awards for:

--"2002 MSU Football Season Ticket Spot," Faculty-Public Service Announcement category;

--"125 Year Anniversary," Faculty-Program/Entertainment category;

--"MSYou-MSU Department of Communications," Student-Program/Informational category; and

--"2003 Kappa Sigma Charity Classic," Program/Informational category.

The center won second-place silver awards for:

--"50 Years of Jack Cristil," Faculty-Program/Informational category; and

--"2001-2002 MS Basketball Highlights-Tournament Champions," Faculty-Program Entertainment category.

WMSV won gold awards for:

--"Midday News," with Krista Vowell as anchor and Chris Grace in sports;

--"Perspectives," a public affairs show featuring Maridith Geuder as the interviewer and Krista Vowell as producer; and

--"Mommy and Me," a public service announcement by Krista Wolf.
