STARKVILLE, Miss.--Original compositions by Mississippi State faculty member Jason Bahr will be performed in a free March 29 campus concert.

Faculty, student and guest artists will be featured as vocalists and instrumentalists during the 7:30 p.m. program in the Bettersworth Auditorium of Giles Hall.

Two recent Bahr compositions, "Contemplations of Light and Dark" and "My Beloved Spake," will premiere during the evening.

"Moppet Songs," "Prelude: Undaunted," "Madisong," "Alone," and "Jumpin,' Coolin' and Fugin'" also will be featured.

Bahr joined the department of music education last fall as an assistant professor of music theory. He previously taught at the University of Oklahoma and Cottey College in Nevada, Mo.

He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and master's and doctoral degrees from Indiana University.

Bahr's compositions have been featured in more than 150 performances in 27 states and six foreign countries. His achievements have been recognized by, among others, the Society of Composers Inc., American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and Cambridge Madrigal Singers.
