STARKVILLE, Miss.--Three Mississippi State students are being recognized for outstanding research activities during the 2005-06 school year. Honored during the university's recent inaugural Institute for Neurocognitive Science and Technology Research Forum were (l-r) Jose Pvillalta, an electrical and computer engineering major from Horn Lake, the Outstanding Master's Degree-Level Research Award; Nan Wang of Starkville, a computer science major, Outstanding Doctoral-Level Research Award; and Stephen M. Edwards, a senior psychology major for Jackson, Outstanding Undergraduate-Level Research Award. The MSU institute is an interdisciplinary program focusing on the improvement of human performance and quality of life.

LOCAL EDITORS:

Jose Pvillalta, the son of Rosa Chavez, is a 2004 electrical engineering graduate of MSU who is scheduled to receive a master's degree May 13.

Edwards, the son of Steve and Kathryn Edwards [residential ZIP code 39211], is scheduled to graduate May 13.

Nan Wang received a master's degree in computer engineering from MSU last May. [Names of her parents are not listed and she is not scheduled to graduate this spring.]
