STARKVILLE, Miss.--The interim dean of Mississippi State's College of Business and Industry is the new president of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy.

Danny Hollingsworth continues to hold the H. Devon Graham Jr. Endowed Professorship in the university's School of Accountancy, where he served as director from 2000 until assuming the interim dean post in July.

Formed in 1978, FSA is the national professional organization for accredited accounting education. Representing some 150 collegiate accounting and related organizations, the association devotes most of its focus to the improvement of accredited accounting programs, especially those like MSU's that lead to a graduate degree.

Before recently assuming office as FSA's 30th leader, Hollingsworth was its vice president/president-elect. Over the years, he has held a variety of other leadership positions in the FSA and the American Accounting Association.

A specialist in taxation and financial statement analysis, he completed bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU and a doctorate from the University of Memphis. A 20-year teaching and research veteran, he headed Baylor University's accounting program, where he taught for 13 years, before returning to his alma mater.

MSU's business college is one of the oldest in the Southeast with graduates in leadership positions throughout the world. In 1979, its accounting department received state College Board approval to become the School of Accountancy offering bachelor's through doctoral degrees.

The school's graduates also can be found at the top levels of Fortune 500 businesses, as well as throughout state and regional commercial and industrial firms.
