University Relations News Bureau (662) 325-3442 Contact: Maridith Geuder November 06, 1997

A Thursday [Nov. 13] teleconference at Mississippi State University will provide the "how-to" for teachers wanting to use the Internet for their academic courses.

"Putting Your Course Online," a 90-minute presentation of the PBS Adult Learning Satellite Service, will be broadcast at the Wise Center's Tait Butler Auditorium, beginning at 2 p.m. An interactive format will allow participants to communicate directly with the instructors.

Faculty at several Texas community colleges and universities who use the Internet to teach courses ranging from Spanish to marketing will make presentations.

Among other topics, the workshop will address the required support mechanisms, time dedication for course creation and management, and challenges of online administration.

To reserve space or for further information, telephone Kathleen Olivieri of the university's Division of Continuing Education at (601) 325-1558.
