STARKVILLE, Miss.--An award-winning member of Mississippi State's English department faculty will read from her new book Thursday [April 3] at the university bookstore.

The free program featuring assistant professor Catherine Pierce begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnes & Noble at MSU Café of the Cullis Wade Depot.

Pierce, who teaches poetry and creative writing, is the author of "Famous Last Words" (Saturnalia, 2008), winner of the 2007 Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize.

A new member of the MSU faculty and a doctoral graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, she also is the author of a 2004 chapbook, "Animals of Habit."
