STARKVILLE, Miss.--A top administrator in Mississippi State's Bagley College of Engineering is among 11 being honored nationally by the Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network.
Associate dean Donna Reese recently received a WEPAN Presidential Award for her work as a committee chairman with the Denver, Colo.-based organization. The honor recognizes individuals or groups whose contributions have helped improve engineering education and the success rate of young women aspiring to enter the engineering profession.
A university faculty member since 1989, Reese has led the college's academic and administrative operations for the past four years. While on campus, she has received several major accolades, including selections as an MSU John Grisham Master Teacher and a National Academic Advising Association's Outstanding Faculty Advising Award winner.
A Texas A&M University doctoral graduate, Reese currently serves as WEPAN membership committee chair and is program chair-elect for the American Society for Engineering Education's Women in Engineering Division.
WEPAN, a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1990, includes some 600 members from nearly 200 engineering schools, businesses and non-profit organizations. It sponsors more than 175 programs and initiatives at U.S. colleges and universities that serve nearly 43,000 female engineering majors.
