MSU bands welcoming spring with two weeks of concerts

STARKVILLE, Miss.--The student bands of Mississippi State University will perform on campus in four mid-April concerts.

Free to all, the events include:

--Jazz Bands Spring Concert, the 13th, McComas Hall auditorium, 7:30 p.m.;

--Concert Bands Spring Concert, the 19th, 2 p.m., Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium (formerly Lee Hall auditorium). Music of Morton Gould, Mark Camphouse, John Phillip Sousa, Clare Grundman, and others;

--Wind Ensemble Spring Concert, at 5 p.m. also on the 19th in Lee's Bettersworth Auditorium. Music of John Williams, Percy Grainger, Michael Gandolfi, Don Gillis, and Sousa; and

--Symphonic Band Outdoor Concert, the 21st, 5 p.m., front lawn of Swalm Chemical Engineering Building. Persons planning to attend should bring folding chairs or blankets.

Cliff Taylor, associate director of bands, will conduct the jazz and concert performances, while Elva Kaye Lance, director of bands, will lead the wind ensemble. Music department majors will direct the symphonic concert.
