Final Starkville-MSU Symphony Chorus to tour 'Broadway'

STARKVILLE, Miss.--The Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Chorus closes the 2008-09 season with a free May 18 concert at the First United Methodist Church.

To begin at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, the performance titled "The Songs of Broadway" will feature various show tunes from some of America's most popular theatrical and movie productions.

Ted Beverly will direct, and pianists Jeremy S. Adcock and Lauren Zumwalt will provide accompaniment. The three are church staff members; Beverly leads the music ministries, while Adcock and Zumwalt are the sanctuary organist and pianist, respectively.

Among well-known tunes on the program: "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "Blue Skies." Other selections will include favorites from productions of "The Wizard of Oz" and "West Side Story."

The church is located near downtown Starkville at 200 West Lampkin St.
