The newest support equipment for Mississippi State's various spirit groups now has an official name.

"Cowbell Cruiser" is the winning entry in a university-wide contest to name the classic 1929 Model A replica donated by university alumnus James J. Rouse, a member of the MSU Foundation's board of directors.

Agricultural economics graduate student Matthew Farrell of Starkville and senior mechanical engineering major Steve Holley of Saraland, Ala., each received a $100 prize awarded by the sponsoring Division of Student Affairs.

Following the contest's launch in August, a committee of students and staff members pared down the list of 300 submissions to four which were put on the recent Homecoming elections ballot.

Currently being used by the Mississippi State spirit groups during the pre-game activities of home football games, the vehicle also is available for use at any official university function.
