Mississippi State freshman Mary Margaret Roark of Cleveland is the university's 2009 Miss Maroon and White. She was selected over more than 50 contestants in the annual campus beauty competition.

Maroon and White alternates are sophomore Amanda N. French of Starkville, freshman Paromita Mitra of Hattiesburg, junior Anne Elise Parks of New Albany, and freshman Rachael M. Hughes of Clinton.

Roark is a political science major and the daughter of Fred and Mary Margaret Roark.

French is an elementary education major and the daughter of Philip and Amy French.

Mitra is an aerospace engineering major and the daughter of Dr. Amal and Paromita Mitra.

Parks is a broadcast meteorology major and the daughter of William and Beth Parks.

Hughes is biological sciences/pre-nursing major and the daughter of Billy and Lisa Hughes.
