The economic minister of the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., will be in Jackson Thursday [March 11] to address a luncheon of the Executive Lecture Forum.

Hajime Hayashi will meet with Gov. Haley Barbour before traveling to the Fairview Inn for the 11:45 ELF program. His visit to the state is organized by the Janos Radvanyi Chair in International Security Studies at Mississippi State University.

A veteran of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Hayashi works currently to promote bilateral cooperation between the two nations in such fields as economic trade, and environment and development assistance policies. (For additional biographical information, visit www.msstate.edu/chair/radvanyi/upcoming.html.)

While ELF programs are not public events, interested members of the news media always are welcome. Reporters and others planning to cover the luncheon are asked to contact Tan Tsai, in advance, at 662-325-4062 or 325-8406.
