STARKVILLE, Miss.--Mississippi State celebrates the 133rd anniversary of its founding with a Feb. 28 birthday party sponsored by the university's alumni association and Starkville's Cadence Bank.
Free and open to all, the celebration takes place 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Junction. Complimentary hamburgers, chips, cookies, soft drinks, and MSU ice cream will be provided, while supplies last. A giant birthday cake also will be provided by MSU Dining Services for the event.
In addition to the lunch, live entertainment by Big Poppa Strang will be sponsored by Music Maker Productions. Free birthday T-shirts will be tossed from the performance stage at some point during the party.
Mississippi's land-grant institution was established Feb. 28, 1878, by a vote of state lawmakers.
