STARKVILLE, Miss.--A Mississippi State doctoral student in history is among lead participants this week at a NASA conference celebrating 50 years of human spaceflight.
Errin C. McComb of Starkville also was one of only two graduate students selected to take part Tuesday and Wednesday [April 26 and 27] in the symposium co-sponsored with the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
Titled "1961-1981: Key Moments in Human Spaceflight," the celebration took place at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
McComb was on a concluding panel discussion that focused on future NASA-related research themes. Her presentation dealt with gender issues.
A master's degree graduate of the Dothan campus of Troy (Ala.) University, she currently is completing a dissertation on the interaction of culture and technology through an examination of shifting masculine archetypes within NASA.
McComb also holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida.
