Well-known Southern painter presents workshop at MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss.--Artist and teacher Nan Cunningham will present two painting workshops early next week at Mississippi State's Visual Arts Center.

Sponsored by the university's art department and open to all, the event begins at 9 a.m. Monday [April 22] and 10 a.m. Tuesday [the 23rd].

Well-known for her engaging workshops, the Alabama native is an Auburn University graduate who went on to hold teaching positions at the Arrowmont School in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Alabama Art Education Center in Birmingham.

Her works have been featured in galleries across the South, including the Little Art Gallery and Craft Collection in Raleigh, N. C.; Beverly McNeil Gallery in Destin, Fla.; and Gallery East in Montgomery.

Cunningham also has served on the board of directors for the Mississippi Art Colony and Montgomery Arts Council.
