Sex, Censorship and the Internet" will be the topic of an April 7 public program at Mississippi State University.
Roger K. Newman will address the controversial topic at a 3:30 p.m. presentation in the Bost Extension Center auditorium. An informal reception follows at 4:30 in the lobby.
A research scholar at the New York University Law School, Newman is editor-in-chief of "The Constitution and Its Amendments," a four-volume encyclopedia that was published in January. He previously co-authored "Banned Films," a history of movie censorship and now is working on a book on school prayer.
His biography of Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black won the Scribes Book Award and was a finalist for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize.
The holder of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Newman is a graduate of Hunter College, University of Virginia, NYU, and the Cardozo Law School.
The College of Arts and Sciences Colloquium Committee is sponsoring his visit. While on campus, he also will be speaking to communication department classes.
