Art student's work selected for promotional campaign

A Mississippi State University art student's work soon will be featured in a marketing campaign for an international magazine.

An image by Brian P. Harris of Ocean Springs, a graduate student in electronic visualization, has been chosen by Computer Graphics World for a postcard sent to several thousand advertisers promoting the magazine's October issue.

Computer Graphics World is a Nashua, N.H.-based publication that bills itself as "the ultimate source for innovations in visual computing."

Harris' digital artwork, entitled "Eyes2," was selected for the campaign from among five of his images featured last month on the magazine's web site. Each month, the site http://www.cgw.com selects the work of one artist to showcase from hundreds of submissions.

A series of five color images that form what he calls the "Butterfly Series," Harris' artwork was created in an advanced drawing course at MSU using traditional painting media and digital imaging software.
