Profile: Stephen Lehman
Senior Stephen Lehman first stood behind a camera as a teenager, while volunteering at his church during the broadcast of Sunday morning services. Being from a family of writers, he had been inspired and encouraged to be creative from an early age. Soon, his love of writing and the story-telling possibilities of cameras merged, and he became a burgeoning filmmaker.
Now a communication major with an emphasis in broadcasting, Lehman has had the opportunity to study at the famed film school at UCLA and has done work on a feature film.
In 2009, he won his first award for his efforts when he brought home the Best Comedy award at the 2009 Magnolia Film Festival for "The Shovel."
"I love the collaborative effort of the film-making process," Lehman said. "It's an amazing thing to be part of a process in which a bunch of creative people come together and a script begins to transform into something larger than life and, in the end, you see something you created on screen."
