Betty Gentry has probably put a smile on your face even if you have never met her.
As assistant controller for Treasury Services, she helps ensure that Mississippi State's faculty, staff and student workers are paid 24 times a year. It's no small undertaking, but it's an important part of the job that the Delta native and Bulldog alum loves.
"I enjoy what I do because we get to work with everybody on campus because of payroll. We get to talk to everyone and help them, too," she says. "We're almost like a family-owned business."
The dedication to her job reaches into other areas of her life. She and her husband, Roy, are devoted Bulldog baseball fans and foster parents for MSU baseball players. The Gentrys are also active in their church, where Betty cooks lunch for the college students who attend.
In fact, after a few minutes of conversation, it is clear that work, life and faith come together seamlessly for her.
"Taking care of the baseball players or our college students at church feels like an extension of my job. I'm so blessed," she says.
And that's why, if you see Betty Gentry, chances are she'll be smiling.
