Natural Dyeing Workshop with MSU Artist-in-Residence Elin de Jong

April 23, 2016
10:00 am to 3:00 pm

About this event

Mississippi State's newest artist-in-residence Elin de Jong, a contemporary textiles and crafts artist from the Netherlands, is leading a natural dyeing workshop at the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. Dyeing experience is desirable but not required. Design students, fiber and textile artists and others interested in practicing sustainable dyeing are especially encouraged to attend. Participants will collect plants and flowers and use them to brew and apply natural dyes to a variety of fabrics using sustainable techniques, including steam dyeing and sun dyeing. Space is limited, so those interested in participating are asked to contact Phyllis Miller in the School of Human Sciences at 662-312-2938 or pbm3@msstate.edu.
