About this event
The Mississippi State University Graduate School's annual Three Minute Thesis Competition returns to the Colvard Student Union's third-floor Fowlkes Auditorium. Open to all graduate students in good standing, the three-day [Nov. 14-16] competition challenges graduate students to present a compelling verbal presentation of their thesis or dissertation topic by conveying its significance in just three minutes using only one accompanying static PowerPoint slide. Developed by The University of Queensland, Australia, the 3MT competition develops academic, presentation and research communication skills and supports the development of graduate students' capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Students may compete in arts and humanities; life and biomedical sciences and engineering; physical, mathematical, computational sciences and engineering; or social and behavioral sciences. The student named Grand Champion will represent MSU in the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools Three Minute Thesis Regional Finals in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Click the "Link" below to learn more.
