Led by Angelos Papadopoulos, this lecture will focus on the history of archaeological research in the Eastern Mediterranean region through the examination of selected case studies, namely the excavations of the British Museum at the end of the 19th century AD in Cyprus. Papadopoulos holds a bachelor's in archaeology from the University of Bournemouth and a master's in archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology at University College London. After receiving his doctorate from the University of Liverpool, he was employed by the Department of Antiquities in Cyprus. Papadopoulos has contributed to a number of research projects in Greece, Cyprus and the United Kingdom and has worked on museum exhibitions, excavations and various publications. Currently, he is teaching at the Open University of Cyprus and the Hellenic Open University.
