About this event

Mississippi State's Office of Research and Economic Development is sponsoring a presentation by Cesar Nufio and Dena Smith of the National Science Foundation. Nufio is program director for the Division of Environmental Biology in the Directorate for Biological Sciences. His program responsibilities include Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) and Population and Community Ecology Cluster (PCE). Smith is program director for the Division of Earth Sciences (EAR) in the Directorate of Geosciences. Her program responsibilities include Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Pathways into Geoscience (IUSE: GEOPATHS) and Sedimentary Geology and Paleobiology (SGP). Nufio and Smith will provide an overview of funding opportunities in these two directorates at NSF. They also will be available to meet one-on-one with MSU faculty/researchers who would like to "pitch" a proposal idea and receive immediate feedback. The one-on-one sessions will be conducted in 20-minute intervals. Anyone wishing to participate in a one-on-one session must contact Lynn Taylor at 662-325-3168 to reserve a spot.
