About this event

Mississippi State's ACCESS program is hosting a "Tips for Transition: Mississippi Educators Conference" for educators, counselors, transition coordinators and other service providers who work with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. The goal of this conference is to help teachers better understand available options as they prepare their students for the transition out of high school and onto the best "next step." Some topics that will be discussed include determining the best directions for students after graduation; writing IEPs that include transition goals; understanding and locating Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services and community resources for graduates; and legal-planning for adults with special needs. ACCESS also will provide a one-hour presentation to better explain the MSU program to educators. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The deadline to register is Feb. 8. To host as many school districts as possible, conference organizers are limiting registration to a maximum of two representatives per school. Registration is $25. The registration cost is $45 for those interested in earning 0.5 CEU credit. Lunch is included. Click the link below for more information and to register for the conference.
